News Release
Core Talent Games Options Design Document From Veteran Designer, Keith Nemitz
(22 Sept 2009; Toronto, San Francisco)
Core Talent Games (CTG) is pleased to announce it has optioned a
game design document, written by Keith Nemitz, as part of its first
slate of projects.
This is an important milestone in CTG’s goal to pioneer free agent
design for major game projects. The deal took several months of
detailed legal negotiation and ensures: 1.) reward to Keith in the
event his game does well and spawns a major franchise, 2.) clear
chain of title for CTG for unique gameplay and content, within deal
terms, in order to produce the game, and 3.) the freedom,
flexibility and low overhead that free-agent-based, producer-driven
game development offers both parties.
The present deal also includes licence of patented designer
technology, integral to the optioned design, which is owned by
Nemitz.
Keith Nemitz is a senior developer actively involved in experimental
game design. He has worked for Sierra Online, Stormfront Studios and
3DO and numerous software development firms. His most recent indie
game, Dangerous High School Girls In Trouble, earned Keith a
nomination for the Writers Guild of America 2009 Videogame Writing
Award.
Keith had two other games selected as a finalist for the Independent
Game Festival at GDC, in 1999 for Flagship: Champion, and in 2006
for The Witch's Yarn. Both were showcased in the innovation
category.
Core Talent Games is adapting the free-agent-based, film-style model
of dealmaking to the game industry. It seeks to bring large budgets
to indie-style game development.
